I bought these pods very excited to be able to use my ipod nike kit without having to buy nike sneakers. I prefer asics as nikes are just too narrow for my foot. As soon as I got the bean pods, I tried them out. I successfully calibrated a 1 mile walk. When I attempted to calibrate a 1 mile run the same day it wouldn't work. I continued to try on various occassions on different surfaces and distances. Treadmill, road, trail, track, turf - .25 miles up to 2 miles. Nothing worked. I tried and tried for about 2 weeks and it would not pick up the calibration and when i tried a basic workout, it would calculate portions of my run. I mean portions - 4 miles would come out to less than 2! 1 mile would be .02. I tried both shoes, up near the top of the laces, middle, and bottom. I tried a light jog, a sprint, and pounding my foot hard to the pavement - nothing worked. It was horrible cause I really wanted it to! So finally I decided to stop trying and I cut a hole in my asics heel cushion which was a pain and what I was trying to avoid (i read a review online about how this works on non-nike shoes). My very first time out it worked like a charm. I calibrated it on the first try and have been running for over a week now without any problems. I really wanted these pods to work, but alas, for me they do not. Maybe it's in my running form? I don't know.
