These are great quality mats, especially for the price. My wife and I are using them for our P90x and Insanity workouts and you cannot tell there is a tile floor underneath them. We were on the fence between the 1/2" and 3/4", but happy we went with the 1/2". It seems to be about the perfect balance of support without being too spongy. I would not want anything thinner on a hard surface. They fit together easily and do not slide or move on the floor (I did not put down any adhesive).
